Ethiopia, South Africa Vow to Elevate the Current Level of their Cooperation
Foreign Minister Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, this afternoon (29 January 2018), met with the Minister of the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) of South Africa, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane at the AU HQ. The meeting was arranged on the sidelines of the ongoing 30th AU Summit.
Dr. Workneh and Hon. Nkoana-Mashabane, discussed on ways of further boosting their bilateral ties through annual Joint Ministerial Commissions (JMC) and Senior Officials Meeting (SOM). Accordingly, they discussed on manners of hosting the 4th JMC due to be held in April this year in Addis Ababa. The 5th SOM which is scheduled to be held in March 2018 was also the agenda of their deliberations.
In addition, Foreign Ministers Workneh and Nkoana-Mashabane, deliberated on ways of cooperating in the peace process of South Sudan. In this regard, FM Nkoana-Mashabane has expressed South Africa's commendation of Ethiopia's role in the IGAD-led revitalization forum aimed at bringing about peace and stability in South Sudan.
State Minister Hirut: For the last 40 years, the relationship between Ethiopia and Cuba has continued in the context of mutual benefit and trust.
