State Minister Hirut confers with Argentina’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs

State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mrs.Hirut Zemene conferred with Argentina's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Pedro Villagra Delgadoon Tuesday (February 13, 2018), and the two sides held discussions on various aspects of bilateral and international issues of mutual concern.

 

The Argentinean State Minister, who is also Chairman of G-20 meeting commended the strong and longstanding bilateral relations between the two countries and expressed his hopes that the bilateral cooperation would be further bolstered ahead. The two sides further exchanged views on issues and agendas to be incorporated on the G-20 Meeting. 

 

State Minister Hirut took note of the strong friendship and solidarity between Ethiopia and Argentina, and commended the re-opening of the Embassy of Argentina in Addis Ababa in 2013, adding that this showcased the dedication and commitment of the Government of Argentina to further diplomatic relations with Ethiopia. 

 

With regard to G-20 meeting, Mrs Hirut expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Argentina for taking the initiative to incorporate Ethiopian's voice on the G-20 agenda, and she said trade, investment and migration would better be top priority in the upcoming meeting. 

 

The two sides further touched upon the launching of Ethiopian Airlines direct flight from Addis to Buenos Aires on 08 March 2018, stressing that this would further boost the bilateral ties.

 

State Minister Hirut further mentioned that Ethiopia and Argentina could also work together in the fields of science, technology and education, while also highlighting that the two countries should also explore further ways of scaling-up other areas of corporation.
