Ethiopia is increasingly becoming investment destination due to the various
incentives being provided to entrepreneurs and other investment friendly
atmosphere in the country.
Over
the past month 2,200 investors with an aggregate capital of 30 billion birr
have got licenses to do business in Ethiopia. The fact that 450 foreign
investors took investment licenses within a period of nine months period
compared to 500 given in the period between July 1984-June 1995 E.C is a
vivid proof for the above mentioned realities in the country.
The Agro-climatic condition of Ethiopia is suitable for the production of a
wide variety of horticulture crops, notably fruits, vegetables, flowers and
shrubs.
The involvement of the private sector is highly encouraged in both the
production and marketing of these products. Promoted by the new economic
climate, a series of successful flower and horticulture enterprises have
started export over the past few years.
