What Happened?

1-2 July, 2006- A two days seminar under the topic “The Role of the Executive and Parliamentarians in the Protection of and Respect to Human Rights” was organized and attended by members of the Parliament. 

4-5 July, 2006- A two-day awareness raising workshop on enforcement and implementation aspect of anti-money laundering and the countering of terrorism was held here in Addis Ababa. 

5 July, 2006- The House of Peoples’ Representatives endorsed a bill amending the rules of procedure and members code of conduct. 

10-12 July, 2006- World Bank President Dr. Paul Wolfowitz paid a three days visit to Ethiopia and   held talks with Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, the  members  of  the  House of Peoples’ Representatives, senior government officials and representatives of civil society organizations. 

15 July, 2006-   Former President of the United States Bill Clinton paid a working visit to Ethiopia and inspected the projects being undertaken in the country with the assistance of Clinton foundation. 

17-19 July, 2006- A regular session of the Executive Committee of the 9th Ministerial Meeting of the Sana’a Cooperation Forum was held here in Addis Ababa. 

What is in store?

2-4 August, 2006- Meeting of the Bureau of the Conference of Ministers of Education of African Union will be carried out here in Ethiopia. 

7-11 August, 2006- The 5th World Congress of African Linguistics (WoCAL) will be held in Addis Ababa.
