What Happened?

March 8, 2006 - International Women's Day (March 8) was celebrated at the United Nations Conference Center.  At the event, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi said, empowering women would guarantee the rights of the entire society. 

March 9, 2006 - A National workshop" ICT for Health Care" was held at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Conference hall.  At the conference, Minister of Health, Dr. Tewordos Adhanom said that the        role of coordinated Information Communication Technology (ICT) in health activities and knowledge dissemination is invaluable. 

March 10, 2006 - A Ministerial Meeting of the Peace and Security Council of the Africa Union (AU-PSC) held discussion and passed decisions on UN operation in the Dafur region of the Sudan. 

March 13, 2006 - Essential Research for a Cooperative Facility for Africa aimed at evaluating the role of cooperatives and their activity in the continent got underway at the UN Conference Center. 

March 24, 2006-  The 1st  Ministerial Conference of the African Electric Energy was held here in the metropolis. Over 20 ministers as well as close to 150 international organizations and experts took part in the conference. 

March 27, 2006 - A two-day regional conference on capacity building on competition policy in selected countries of Eastern and Southern Africa was held in the capital. Participants drawn from 30 countries of Africa, Europe and Asia attended the conference.

 

What is in Store ?

 April 24-25, 2006- All African Psychiatric Association representatives will gather for African psychiatric Associations and Allied Professions Congress Mental Health in Africa. 

April 25-27, 2006- Representatives from all AU member states will meet to deliberate on the Electoral Assistance Unit and fund in Addis Ababa. 

April 26-28, 2006- The 2nd meeting     of    the   Task   Force  to   validate   the prospective  study on Oil and Gas in Africa will be held in Addis Ababa. 

April 27-28, 2006- A meeting on the Draft policy on Access to Post-Primary  Education for Refugees will be held here in the metropolis. 

April 29-30, 2006- A technical Meeting of experts and Regional Economic   Communities (RECs) on the continental Early Warning System  (CEWS) will kick off in Addis.
