What Happened?

December 1, 2005 -  World Aids Day observed under the theme "Stop AIDS. Keep Promise."   

December 9, 2005 -  Workshop marking the International Anti-Corruption Day was held at the UN-ECA.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Addisu Legesse underscored the need for international cooperation and coordinated efforts to make a difference in combating corruption.   

December 14, 2005 -  The 5th Pan African conference of Ministers of Public Service and Administration was held at the AU conference center.  

December 16, 2005  European Union signs  agreement  here  with  the  African  

Union /AU/ to provide 71 million euros for African Union Mission in  the  Sudan

/AMIS/.  The fund will contribute to the operational costs of the different components of AMIS. 

December 19, 2005 -  The Economic Commission for Africa /ECA/ launched its "Economic Report on Africa 2005".   

January 15, 2005 -  An extraordinary conference of Education Ministers of the African Union evaluated the First Decade of Education for Africa (EFA) and also endorsed the Framework for Action for the second decade based on a report of experts' meeting.   

January 18, 2006 -  The water resources planning and management project, which is one of the shared vision programmes of the ten riparian countries of the Nile Basin, was officially opened on January 18, 2006.
