For the third year running, the Europe Day would be celebrated here on
9th May 2007 with various assortment of programmes, the European Commission
(EC) said.
Speaking at a press conference held on Wednesday, Head of EC Delegation
to Ethiopia, Ambassador Tim Clarke said the Commission in collaboration
with the EU Member States and the Ethiopian government launches a series
of week-long activities to mark the Day.
As children and students are the future of a country, on this EU 50th
Anniversary year, as in previous years, the focus is on them, Ambassador
Clarke unerlined.
Programs on the 50th years’ history of European integration and
the very important role played by the EU as a development partner with
Ethiopia would be staged with a view to raising the awareness of young
people.
State Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mahamouda Gaas on his part said
various programs are organized with a view to making the Day memorable
and show the strong and reliable relationship between Ethiopia and Europe.
