Ministry concludes diplomatic training for newly appointed Ambassadors

The diplomatic training that has been given for newly appointed Ambassadors and deputies to be posted to countries in Africa, Europe, North America, and the Asia Pacific is concluded today (February 19).
The training covered topics, among others, Diplomacy and International relations, international conventions, Ethiopian Foreign Policy, political, economic, and public diplomacy, including digital diplomacy.
In delivering closing remarks, H.E. Ambassador Regassa Kefeyalw, the Human Resource Management Directorate General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia congratulated the trainees and highlighted some of the critical issues that the new ambassadors are expected to carry out in representing their country.
He said the Ambassadors should give their utmost priority to the protection of the rights of Ethiopian citizens abroad and informing the world of Ethiopia’s natural and legal rights to employ its natural resources, including the Nile Basin in line with the principles of international law.
In supporting their country’s priority to economic development, he said the Ambassadors should also exert their energy to attract investors and promote unique qualities of the country to increase the flow of tourists.
The Ethiopian Foreign Service Training Institute organized the two-weeks long training where senior diplomats and Director Generals in the Ministry participated as trainers.
